I've always thought Shakespeare was pretty funny. A few years ago a local theater put on The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged and we were all crying we were laughing so hard. There's a video of it being done originally (or I think originally) and it is also hysterical. Slight moments of inappropriateness but then there's that in Shakespeare's original works as well.
